Spanish Class

Spanish Program K - 4

The K-4 Spanish Program began in Mid-August of 2009. The Monday and Wednesday classes are helping students to begin to develop an ability to listen (comprehend), speak, read, and write in Spanish. Some themes being introduced and built upon are: family, school (including colors, numbers, months of the year, days of week, objects in the classroom), clothing, body parts, animals, holidays and traditions, holy days, and prayers. We are off to a great start!

5th – 8th Spanish Content:

5th -8th grades have Spanish twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are 30 minutes in length. Without prior knowledge of past Spanish exposure we started with a few basics: alphabet, number 0-50, gender agreement, definite/indefinite articles and have learned the Gloria and the Ave Maria in Spanish. In following Diocesan standards, Spanish will focus on performance in the target language and will allow student to acquire a second language while understanding and respecting other cultures.
