Grade 1 and Grade 2
The Language Arts Program consists of weekly reading stories, phonics, vocabulary development, and daily writing. The reading stories are organized into themes that incorporate other subjects such as Science, Math, and Social Studies. Students also take weekly reading and spelling tests that reinforce the reading story.
The Math Program consists of problem of the day, calendar activities, math vocabulary development, math fact practice, and hands on math lessons. Students are given several opportunities to practice math topics both in class and at home. Both the Math and Language Arts Program consist of whole group and small group instruction which allows students to work to their own ability level.
The Social Studies Program consists of geography skills, literature, and study skills. The focus of the curriculum is learning about the community, how to be a good citizen, how the past affects our current community, and learning and celebrating different cultural holidays.
Lastly, the Science Program consists of interactive science modules where students are able to explore topics in depth. Each module contains hands-on activities and individual science readers to teach the science lesson. The focus of the curriculum is using your senses, and states of matter.
